Operations
Facilities
District facilities are comprised of six separate campuses which include two satellite facilities. The district grounds total over 80 acres, which accommodate fourteen buildings: nine instructional buildings and five non-instructional buildings; two outdoor environmental/science labs; eleven athletic sites; and six outdoor playground sites. Two of our district buildings were constructed prior to 1950, six others were constructed between the years of 1950 to 1970, two were constructed between 1971 and 1990, and two have been constructed since 1991. All of our school buildings have been remodeled and expanded in the last few years.
Maintenance
The Operations Department maintains all district facilities through daily preventative maintenance, upgrades and repairs. With community support over the last few years, we have been able to accomplish major infrastructure renovations, including electrical, heating and cooling systems. We make it our number one priority to ensure the continued efficient and cost-effective operation of our facilities.
Custodial Services
Custodians are people who have charge of something – a caretaker. At Plainwell Community Schools, our custodians are also viewed in this way. For the Operations Department, the custodians are the “first line of defense” – an integral part of the daily operations of providing clean, healthy, comfortable schools for the 3,500+ students and staff.
Grounds
Groundskeeping is an extension of our maintenance effort, with specific responsibility for lawns, driveways, parking lots, sidewalks, playgrounds, athletic fields and courts. With over 80 acres to maintain twelve months a year, this is no small task! We uphold our district’s good “curb appeal” by being watchful and attentive to the grounds on a regular schedule.
