Thanksgiving traditions are so much fun! Prior to Break, Cooper Elementary celebrated Thanksgiving in a special way at their second annual Pie Day. During the event, Mrs. Keorkunian (principal) read a Thanksgiving book over the intercom while the students and staff enjoyed pumpkin pie together at a makeshift "table". It was so much fun and a special way for the Koalas to celebrate Thanksgiving together.

Looking back at the recent production of Clue! This was the first production for the PHS Drama Class and the students did fantastic! Special thanks to everyone who came out to see the show and those who helped put the show together.

Two Elementary Robotics teams competed in the 3rd annual Allendale VEX IQ Tournament last weekend. Starr Team "Megabyte" (Kaden and Bradley) started off slowly but ended the tournament tied for 2nd place. Cooper Team "3D Builders" (Aiden, Briana and Nolan) won the Create Award, which is given to a team whose robot design incorporates a creative engineering solution to the design challenges of the season’s game. Congratulations to both teams!

Congratulations to PHS Senior, Kailah Newcomb, on signing her letter of intent to play soccer at Western Michigan University! We are incredibly proud of Kailah’s athletic achievements while at PHS and wish her all the best next year at WMU. From all of us at PCS, congratulations and best wishes to Kailah! Congratulations to the PHS Boys Cross Country team on an outstanding season where they went 142 and 21. Here are some end of season highlights: - Finished 2nd in the Wolverine Conference and had 5 All-Conference runners: Henry Cox, Trent Hansen, Donovan Ryan, Liam Troutner and Isaac Veen. - Won the Allegan County Championship with a total of 6 athletes being All-County: Henry Cox, Trent Hansen, Billy Pipkorn, Donovan Ryan, Liam Troutner and Isaac Veen. - Won the Regional Championship for the first time in 33 years with 4 All-Regional Runners: Henry Cox (Regional Champion), Trent Hansen, Donovan Ryan and Isaac Veen.  - Finished 11th at the State Finals with Henry Cox being All-State at 27th Place. Congratulations to the team on being named Team Academic All-State 6th. The following individuals were also honored as Individual Academic All-State: Henry Cox, Donovan Ryan and Isaac Veen. Way to go Trojan Cross Country - PLAINWELL PRIDE!

Yesterday the Plainwell and Otsego Lifelong Learners group celebrated at their Friendsgiving event. It was a beautiful day inside and out, as the group came together at Otsego High School to celebrate with lots of great food, old family recipes and wonderful fellowship. We are very thankful for our community Lifelong Learners! 🍁

Congratulations to the PHS Soccer team on earning Team All-Academic Award for having a combined GPA of 3.42! The Trojans (14-9-1) are District Champions, Regional Finalists (Top 8 in D2) and runner up in the Wolverine Conference. Another outstanding evening at the Performing Arts Center, this time featuring the Cooper Koalas! Last night, Cooper Elementary's 3rd, 4th and 5th grade classes performed at their "It's Almost Too Early for Christmas" Holiday Concert. Good Luck to PHS’ State team of Audrey Macqueen, Elizabeth French, Sydney Harper, Ella Way and Audrey Todd as they head to compete at the D3 Swim & Dive State Championships this weekend at Oakland University! Let’s go, Trojans!

On November 14, two of our 8th grade band students, Alyssa Boyer and Joshua Pembrook, participated in Western Michigan University’s Middle School Honors Band. They spent the day (9am-7pm) working with composer Brian Balmages and other students from throughout Michigan. The night concluded with a fantastic concert! We are so proud of these students - PLAINWELL PRIDE!

From rehearsal to showtime, the Rock Starrs from Starr Elementary rocked at their 2023 3rd and 4th grade holiday concert. Yesterday they performed at the Performing Arts Center, sharing some fun and festive music! Amazing job, Rock Starrs - your concert was OUTSTANDING! Were you unable to attend? It was a great afternoon at the 2023 Renaissance Thanksgiving Feast. This event is a great opportunity for the RHS students, staff and Community partners to come together to celebrate and give thanks. Special thanks to all that participated to make this such a great event for the RHS Rebels.

As a reminder, we have some important calendar dates to note. There are half days of school Thursday, November 16 and Friday, November 17 (end of the first trimester). Also, there is no school from Monday, November 20-Friday, November 24 for Thanksgiving Break. We wish our students, staff, families and community a wonderful Thanksgiving Break. Go Trojans!

Lots of recent excitement and updates from Renaissance High School. The RHS Rebels have being keeping busy by giving back and finding new learning opportunities! - Veterans Cards: RHS students made cards for Veterans Day. The cards were distributed to local veterans. - Library: The RHS Rebels have been taking field trips to the library so that students can get a library card, learn more about resources and check out books to use in their English classes. - Gone Boarding: Beginning in the 2nd trimester Mike MacQueen will be piloting the Gone Boarding program with ten of the RHS students. It's a project-based learning program which results in the creation of a longboard.

Congratulations to the PHS Volleyball team who received team Academic All-State. In addition, the following post season awards were received: -Lexi Poel: All-Conference Honorable Mention and Academic All-State -Sophie Munch: 2nd Team All-Conference and Region 10 All-Region -Aubrey Carpenter: Academic All-State -Coach Megan Black: Region 10 Freshman Coach of the Year Congratulations to these athletes and the Volleyball program on a great season!
