Harper Balkema (6th Grade): Harper always has a smile on her face.She works hard in all her classes and is always ready to help her classmates. She comes to school everyday to take on the challenges presented with Plainwell PRIDE. We are super proud to have Harper at PMS.
Piper (7th Grade): Piper has done terrific work this school year. She is keeping up on her academics and using her new found skills to stay focused on the tasks of the day. She is working very hard to be kind and helpful to others, specifically in the office.Thanks for living with Plainwell PRIDE Piper!
Liam (8th Grade): Liam is a young man always willing to help, He does this while also taking care of his own business. Liam enjoys all the aspects of school but takes care of business with regard to his academic career. He is friendly to everyone and exudes Plainwell PRIDE.

PHS and OHS are currently tied for first place and this meet will break the tie for first and put the team in contention for the WC Conference Championship. IT’S RIVALRY GAME DAY! Join us tonight (10/6) to cheer on the Trojans at their rivalry football game against the Otsego Bulldogs. Game begins at 7 PM at Otsego HS. It is a “Black Out” game, show your support of the Trojans by wearing black (or your favorite Plainwell gear).

Due to weather and course conditions, the home Middle School Cross Country meet that was scheduled for today (Thursday, October 5) has been canceled.
The Plainwell Counseling Center is offering free group meetings for girls ages 12-15 to join where they will offer a safe environment for adolescent girls to connect with their peers and learn more about self-esteem, self-care, and relationships with others. Congratulations to the Girls Swim and Dive team who won a close meet with South Haven last night 103-82. Great races for Elizabeth French, Sydney Harper, Addison Williams, Audrey Macqueen, Izzy Stewart, Mckenna Soderquist, Ella Way and the rest of the team. The divers of Lily Inquilla, Liv Perrin and Gabby Northern placed 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Go Trojans!
The Gilkey Geckos had a night of family fun at their 2023 Color Run! Students, staff and families enjoyed the playground, nature trail, a picnic with a food truck and an awesome color run. Thanks to the students hard work and generous donations, the Color Run fundraiser raised over $13,000 for the Gilkey Parents Club, which will support our students and staff throughout the year. What a fun and successful event for the Geckos! 🦎
Thanks to the student's hard work and the generous donations by many, Cooper Elementary’s Fun Run fundraiser was a great success. On Thursday, the Koalas walked, ran, played and enjoyed popsicles at their Fun Run. Thank you to all that donated to make this fundraiser an incredible success, especially the top donors (logos pictured)! Way to go, Cooper Koalas!

The Rock Starrs 💙 swim class! Mrs. Heise’s 4th grade class from Starr Elementary had swimming last week. Their time was full of swim lessons, lots of fun and they ended the week with free choice in the pool.
Students in Mrs. Ramsey and Mrs. TerMeer’s 6th grade science classes used microscopes last week. They first learned how to focus the microscope and how to carefully handle them. Then they were able to look at prepared slides of pond water, insect parts, humans cells and animal cells. Science is fun at the MS!

Ivy (6th Grade): Ivy always participates, works hard, and is one of the first to raise her hand. She is helpful and always has a upbeat attitude and a smile.
Dallas (7th Grade): Dallas tries his best on everything that he does. He participates in class, asks questions, and is always willing to help out his peers. When he finishes his work he is one of the firsts to help someone else with theirs.
Urijah (8th Grade): Urijah is a leader in and out of the classroom. He is willing to work with everyone in class and is constantly competing to become better at everything he does. When friends of his are off task, he stands up for what is right and does not partake.

The PHS Swim and Dive team had a lot of personal bests at the D-3 invite over the weekend in Holland. Congratulations to Sydney Harper who qualified for State in the 200 IM and the 500 free. Great swims by Heidi Ragainis, Izzy Stewart, Elizabeth French, Audrey Todd, Ella Way, Abbey Unser, Addison Williams, Mckenna Soderquist and the rest of the team! GO TROJANS!
Congratulations to the Trojan Marching Band on a fantastic performance and a 2nd place finish in their debut competitive performance yesterday! The TMB topped Edwardsburg's band by one point, falling a few points short of Lakeshore High School's band at Portage Northern's competition. Next up, the Trojan Band will head to Sparta's competition next Saturday (10/7).
The Varsity Boys Cross Country team ran extremely well today and placed 2nd out 17 teams at the Otsego Invitational. We are very proud of the Trojans -

The Plainwell Middle School 7th Grade Band students went on a field trip to the Allegan Event Center yesterday. It was a great day filled with team building activities and lots of fun!
Yesterday Plainwell Middle School held a meeting to launch Unified Champions at PMS. Unified Champions is a program through the Special Olympics that is based on three pillars: unified sports, whole school engagement and youth leadership. Over 40 PMS students participated in the meeting where they learned about this year’s focus: Bocce Ball. Way to go, Trojans!

We’re so proud of our Boys Soccer program! They may have lost a tough battle with Otsego last night, but they have showed a tremendous amount of Trojan spirit this season. Last night during the game, they showed their love and appreciation for our Plainwell educators by honoring them before the game. Also, throughout the season after practice, they have went to support our Volleyball team and Swim & Dive team at their competitions. Way to show your support and Trojan Pride, PHS Soccer - GO TROJANS!
