At least 30 students and several staff from Plainwell Community Schools volunteered at Island City Festival this weekend. Students wore costumes and greeted festival goers, picked up trash, helped when needed and worked the parking lot to earn money for various non-profits and school groups. They had a lot of fun! Thanks to the hard workers behind Island City Festival for the opportunity!

This week the Plainwell Middle School ECO Club met for their final meeting of the year. Students painted handprints on patio stones in the courtyard, finished setting up the irrigation system and planted herbs in the garden. In addition each student got to plant and take home their own indoor starter plants. Special thanks to Mrs. Sponsler-Andrasi, Ms. Colhurst and Mrs. Oostdyk for all their hard work with the ECO Club this year! Plainwell Pride!

The Starr Elementary students ROCKED at their recent Starr Strut fundraiser and won a glow party! It was such a fun day as classes enjoyed face painting, various games, singing and dancing. Way to go, Rock Starrs!

The PHS Cheer team is having a special fundraiser this Sunday, June 11 and there are five spots remaining! Help support the cheer team at their Photography Session Fundraiser as Gregersen Photography will offer micro-photography sessions at the Plainwell Paper Mill. Each 10 minute session for families and/or children are held from 8:05-8:30 PM and include five printable images. A minimum $50 donation (or more) will go to support the Plainwell Cheer Team! Cooper Elementary’s field day was SO MUCH FUN! From special activities to bounce houses to a family picnic, it was an amazing day for the Koalas! Thank you to all that made this such a special day at Cooper!
Students in Mrs. Amaezechi’s fourth grade class at Starr Elementary used the last two weeks to learn about the Regions of the United States. Each group was assigned a region and they put together a slideshow about cities, landmarks and industries to present to their classmates. Although school is almost out, learning hasn’t stopped for our Trojans!
TONIGHT (Tuesday, June 6) the PHS Choir is presenting their 2023 Musical Revue: Anastasia at 7 PM. Join us at the Performing Arts Center as the choirs perform a variety of music including tunes from the hit Broadway Musical: "Anastasia". Featuring music by all PHS choirs & a cast of soloists. Free of charge and open to the public.
Congratulations to Plainwell’s 6th Grade Soccer team who went 8-0 this season! Out of the eight games they played, seven were shutouts. The team played in the 2nd highest division, playing older teams - Kalamazoo Cougars, Allegan and Stevenville Lakeshore. What a great season - GO TROJANS! ⚽️
The Geckos recently had special visitors as students from the PHS AP French class stopped by several classrooms at Gilkey to read children's books in French. The visit even included PHS French foreign exchange student, Pereine. Students learned how to say basic French phrases and had the opportunity to ask many questions. Special thanks to the AP French students and Ms. Trahan for providing this special opportunity for the Geckos!
