MONSTER MASH: Last week, Cooper Elementary held their Monster Mash event. It was an awesome outdoor evening for a costume party as our families enjoyed trick or treating, food trucks, games, and lots of Halloween fun! Thank you to all that organized, planned and joined in the fun at the 2022 Monster Mash!
COOPER COUNTING: The students in Mrs. Laning’s Kindergarten class at Cooper Elementary counted pumpkin seeds yesterday. What a fun way to work on their counting!

BOOK VENDING MACHINE: Students in Ms. Hunter and Mrs. Kessler’s classes at Cooper Elementary earned book vending machine tokens for their great behavior! Way to go, Koalas! 🐨
TROJAN AQUATIC CLUB REGISTRATION & SWIM TEST: We are just one week away from the 2022-23 Trojan Aquatic Club (TAC) registration and swim test day! Join us on Wednesday, November 2 from 6-7 PM to register your student for the upcoming Winter TAC program which begins on Monday, November 7, 2022. If your student is new to TAC, they must take a swim test. The test will take place during registration on Wednesday, November 2 from 6-7 PM. Participants must be able to confidently swim one length of the pool, on top of the water without assistance to participate in the TAC program.

TEACHER COACHING: Our teachers are always going above and beyond to continue to learn the best ways to educate our students. Recently at Cooper Elementary, their teachers received special coaching and feedback on how to become even more effective in teaching reading to their classes. We are so thankful for our teaching staff and all they do for our students! Trojan Pride!
MASB CONFERENCE: This weekend, Superintendent Montange had the opportunity to attend and present at the Michigan Association of School Boards (MASB) Conference in Traverse City with Mrs. Amy Blades, PCS Board of Education President. At the conference, they presented about Leading with Relationships: A Model for How the Board President and Superintendent Can Work Together to Lead Your District. It was an outstanding opportunity to share about PCS and the importance of putting relationships first within our district. A special thank you to Mr. Montange, Mrs. Blades and our Board of Education for supporting and representing our district so well at this annual conference!
FALL CARNIVAL: It’s Carnival day! Join the Starr Parents Association at Starr Elementary today (October 22) from 12-4 PM for their Fall Carnival to enjoy vendors, food trucks, face painting, carnival games (tickets are $.50 each), a pumpkin patch, crafts and more!

HOOPSTERS BASKETBALL: Join us for our upcoming Hoopsters Basketball program for 3-5th graders. This program introduces kids to the basic fundamentals of basketball and the rules of the game. The program will be held from December 4-March 5, teams will practice 1-2 times per week and play games on Saturdays (games will be played in Plainwell, Otsego and Martin). Cost is $57 per participant.

ACTIVITIES UPDATE (10/17): We are happy to share that all PCS afternoon/evening activities for today (Monday, October 17) will be held as previously planned. If any cancellations are needed, it will be communicated from the program coach or director. Go Trojans!
BATTLE OF THE BOOKS: Do you have a 3rd-5th grade student who loves to read? Registration is now open to sign-up for the 2023 Battle of the Books program! Join us for a fun extra-curricular reading activity where students work as a team to read and study the following seven selected books before competing in a quiz bowl type battle in February 2023:

NO SCHOOL TODAY (10/17): Plainwell Community Schools will have no school today due to a gas main being hit on the corner of South Main and Starr which has caused the intersection to be blocked and a gas outage to our buildings with no timeline on a possible all clear.
A decision on after school activities will be made by noon but we are hopeful that those will not be impacted.
