We are excited to share the Plainwell Middle School Students of the Week! We are proud of your hard work and dedication. Way to go, Trojans! Adalina (8th Grade): Adalina is so impressive! She works so hard and is willing to do whatever it takes to complete her work. She tries to encourage others to make good choices as she tries to model responsible behavior. Lucas (7th Grade): Lucas is a kind, caring, self-reflective 7th grader. He is always ready to help...if his Chromebook is at 10%, he'll lend his charger to a classmate who is at 1%. He jumps in to assist classmates without a thought to his own inconvenience. Lucas is doing very well academically through his own effort. I recently overheard him say, "I wasted a lot of time when we started this essay and I really regret it now." That kind of reflection is the kind that helps a student make important changes in reaching for success. Lucas is a dedicated cook whose "good things" really are good things and we enjoy hearing about his creations. Having Lucas in class is like having another adult in the room...but a really cool adult who is well-liked and trusted by the students. Lucas is a walking PRIDE pass...he never fails to say hello and to wish his teacher a good day as he leaves, he readily admits when he's made a mistake, his determination in completing his work to the best of his ability is present every day. I appreciate all that Lucas does to make our school a safe place for all of us. Chase (6th Grade): Chase is a wonderful role model for all of his peers. He is a top notch kid. He excels in ELA class and goes above and beyond to learn the material. Chase is always choosing the right decisions and works diligently to get any task completed. He goes out of his way to help his peers to be successful. Sometimes he does this by modeling best behaviors and at other times he gives gentle reminders of the expectations of the classroom. He does not expect anything in return for his positive choices as a student and as a peer. Chase is also a great person to talk to and shows kindness to everyone he meets. Chase will do amazing things in his future and I can't wait to watch it happen! Throughout the year, we look forward to continuing to share our outstanding Middle School Students of the Week! GO TROJANS! Special thanks to our Student of the Month sponsors: Fly Inn, Mayor's Joint, Barbed Wire Cafe and Taqueria San Francisco. We greatly appreciate your support of PCS and our students - Today’s Learners, Tomorrow’s Leaders!

It was an awesome night at the 2023 Shop with a Hero event at Meijer in Plainwell. On Monday, we gave out 125 - $175 gift cards to Meijer at our Shop with a Hero event. What a special time for the PCS students, as well as the local heroes that helped them holiday shop. We are so grateful to our anonymous donor for providing this amazing opportunity for our students every year, it touches the lives of so many. We are also very thankful to the local heroes, volunteers and the amazing gift wrappers for making this such a special event for our Middle School students. THANK YOU to everyone that made this night so incredibly special!

Who doesn't love a great holiday tradition?! It was great fun at Gilkey, Cooper and Starr Elementary Schools as the Middle and High School Choirs performed for the students at their annual holiday caroling tour throughout the district. This annual caroling event includes a number of holiday classic songs, as well as a few new favorites...including a special appearance from "Olaf". It is always a favorite for all the students and staff involved, the smiles were priceless!

Congratulations to Esther, Essie and Lance, as they are Plainwell Middle Schools' "Book and a Bonus" winners this month. "Book and a Bonus" is a new MS reading incentive program that is sponsored by Ransom District Library. Students can enter by reading books at their level and reporting them to their ELA teacher. After the report, students are given a slip to put into the "Book and a Bonus" raffle box in the library and a student is selected as the monthly winner. Thanks to the generosity and support from Ransom District Library, this month we awarded THREE winners! Keep up the great reading PMS students! Special thanks to Ransom District Library for your ongoing support of PCS and the “Book and a Bonus" program! PLAINWELL PRIDE!

We are excited to share the Plainwell Middle School Students of the Week! We are proud of your hard work and dedication. Way to go, Trojans! Cam (8th Grade): Cam is a great student, a leader among his peers, and someone that other people genuinely want to be around. He is a force for positivity in our school and a good friend to many. Cam shows Plainwell PRIDE in all that he does! Sylar (7th Grade): ASylar is always so friendly and helpful. She can be counted on to greet everyone with a smile, and always offers to help when possible. Sylar makes every class she is in better, because she encourages others to do their best. She is a friend to everyone around the building and is always willing to lend a helping hand. She exemplifies the "P" for positivity in our PRIDE acronym and we are proud to have her as our student. Isabel (6th Grade): We have so many amazing students at Plainwell Middle School and Isabel is a shining example. I'm not sure if I've ever met a more friendly kid than Isabel. She always waves at me and says "Hi" when she sees me. She ALWAYS has a smile on her face! She exudes our PRIDE trait of Positivity. Isabel does this while also working hard on her academics and creating positive relationships with peers. Great Job Isabel. The Plainwell Middle School Basketball team had some special guests at their game earlier this week - the Michigan State University Men’s Golf Team! The team came to watch and support Cam Larsen in his game! Larsen, an eighth grader who was was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at nine years old, has been paired with the MSU Men’s Golf Team through Team Impact, a program that “matches children facing serious illness and disability with college sports teams, creating a long-term, life-changing experience for everyone involved”. Cam had a successful night winning the tip off and scoring 16 points! Special thanks to the MSU Men’s Golf Team for your support of Cam and joining us to cheer on the Trojan Basketball team!

We are excited to share the Plainwell Middle School Students of the Week! We are proud of your hard work and dedication. Way to go, Trojans! Nyra (8th Grade): Nyra is not only a fabulous student, but she is very kind, respectful and helpful to her fellow classmates. When working in pairs, she helps them with understanding the material and also with pronunciation of vocabulary. It has been an absolute pleasure to have her in my Spanish class! Addisyn (7th Grade): Addisyn is a thoughtful, caring and kind citizen in the class. She always greets me with a smile and "Hello!" followed by a genuine inquiry of my well-being. Addisyn always takes care to complete her work, asks questions when she needs assistance, participates in class discussion and activities, and seeks out extension activities. She regularly shares about thoughtful things that she selflessly does for her friends and about how she helps out at home. Addisyn is a role model to others and a pleasure to have in class! Nicholas (6th Grade): Nicholas is a thoughtful citizen in the classroom. He always listens intently, begins his work right away, and asks questions when needed. Nicholas regularly participates in class discussion and eagerly shares about his makerspace-type projects that he completes outside of school. When a classmate is in need of help, Nicholas readily offers his assistance and then returns to his work. I appreciate his willingness to accept and apply feedback, his responsible conduct in the classroom and his fascination for learning!
