Prior to Spring Break, Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Ruimveld led the implementation of Unified Champions at Plainwell Middle School, a program that promotes inclusion through intentionally planned and implemented activities. Inclusion week kicked off with "Hats off for Inclusion" on Monday, "Be Comfy, Be You" Diversity on Tuesday, and Acceptance "Inclusion Revolution Pledge" on Wednesday. Students led announcements each morning to share the theme, define it and explain the activity of the day. A game of bocce ball was played during lunch and students signed an Inclusion Revolution Pledge!

On May 7, 2024, PCS will be pursuing a NO TAX RATE INCREASE bond proposal to continue to improve our facilities and prioritize the educational experiences of our students, families and staff.
Did you know that currently the gymnasiums at Gilkey and Cooper are shared gym and cafeteria spaces? Due to the number of students and the sizes of classes and programs that we offer, we are not able to service the correct number of students at the correct time. Separating the cafeteria from gymnasium programs would allow us to service more students at one time. Additionally, this would allow students at Gilkey and Cooper to have the same level of access to facilities that the students at Starr have, equalizing facility support across the district.
Read more about the proposed gymnasiums and the 2024 bond proposal by visiting plainwellschools.org/page/2024-bond.

Due to mechanical issues, the Rabbit bus route will be delayed by 25-30 minutes for the afternoon route today (Wednesday, March 27).

As a reminder, our Spring Break is from Thursday, March 28-Friday, April 5. We wish our students, staff and families a wonderful break! We look forward to welcoming the PCS students back to school on Monday, April 8.
Have a great Spring Break and GO TROJANS!

Congratulations to Lydia, A'aliyah and Hannah (Mr. Hattendorf filled in for Hannah since she was absent) as they are Plainwell Middle Schools' "Book and a Bonus" winners. "Book and a Bonus" is a monthly reading incentive program for MS students that is supported by Ransom District Library. Their support allowed PMS to award THREE winners! Keep up the great reading PMS students! Special thanks to Ransom District Library for your ongoing support of PCS and the “Book and a Bonus" program! PLAINWELL PRIDE!

One of the ways that Mr. Manting (Middle School Principal) and Mr. Hattendorf (Middle School Assistant Principal) celebrate during Reading Month is to read to the 5th grade students throughout the district. Recently, they stopped by all three elementary buildings to read a book. They also spent time sharing information about Middle School and answered questions from the incoming fall 2024 6th graders. It was a great experience for the Koalas, Geckos and Rock Starrs!

Did you know that our preschool programs have been at 95% capacity for the past 5+ years? To meet the high demand for early childhood care in our community, the May 7 bond proposal would allow Plainwell to build an Early Childhood Center (ECC). With consolidated resources and a specifically designed space, we could have a strong impact on the future of students and continue to provide programs that support young families.

Plainwell Middle School held an all-school party today where students enjoyed a fun afternoon filled with various activities, games, open gym and special snacks. Thanks to the Parents Group, as well as the parents who volunteered and donated to make this an awesome event for our Middle School students - the event was a hit!

In Miss Ruimveld’s math classes at Plainwell Middle School, each class had a pi digit reciting competition yesterday. Today the celebrations wrapped up with the winners of each class competing against each other. The top score was Brecken reciting 43 digits of Pi.
