Plainwell Community Schools is mourning the tragic loss of Mason Savage, a PHS student, and his father, Dan Savage, after their family experienced a serious car accident. Three other family members, including two PCS students, are currently hospitalized. Our love, prayers, and support go out to the Savage family during this difficult time.
School and community professionals are working together at Plainwell Community Schools to provide counseling services for students and faculty affected by this loss. Counselors and social workers will be available in the Middle School ESC (library) from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM on Tuesday, July 9.
If you are interested in helping the family you can provide support by participating in multiple fundraising events put together by local families and district personnel.

If you've traveled down Starr Road lately, you might have noticed the significant developments on the new Fieldhouse. Over the last month, improvements have been made to the exterior, along with various updates to the gymnasium and pool areas. Exciting times are on the horizon for the Trojans!


We are happy to share that registration is now open for the 2024 Rocket, Flag and Pee Wee Football programs. All three programs provide an introduction to Plainwell's football program with an emphasis on learning skills while having fun.
Rocket Football: The Rocket Football program is available for 3rd-6th grade athletes (must be 8 years old by 9/1/2024). The program will include six Saturday games. Practice dates/times will be available in August. Cost is $100 per athlete and includes a jersey. Players must have their own pants, shoulder pads and helmet (color does not matter for 2024-2025).
Flag Football: The Flag Football program is available for 1st and 2nd grade athletes. The program will include one practice per week and six games in Plainwell. Practice times & locations TBD, with practices scheduled to begin the week of August 12. Cost is $75 per athlete and includes a jersey. Players must wear their own athletic shoes/cleats.
Pee Wee Football: The Pee Wee Football program is available to kindergarten athletes. The program will include one practice per week and six games in Plainwell. Practice times & locations TBD, with practices scheduled to begin the week of August 12. Cost is $75 per athlete and includes a jersey. Players must wear their own athletic shoes/cleats.

The 5th graders at Starr wrapped up their elementary school journey last week with days filled with excitement. They started with a staff vs. students kickball game, followed by a schoolwide parade, and ended with a 5th-grade celebration party with their classmates. The Rock Starrs created great memories together. Congratulations on completing your time at Starr, next stop Plainwell Middle School! ⭐️🤩⭐️

Now that the school year has come to a close, we want to express our gratitude to our bus drivers for their unwavering commitment and hard work during the year. Being the first and last faces our students see daily, they exceed expectations in providing exceptional care and safe transportation. A special shoutout goes to Kim Buitendorp, the Cat bus driver, for her retirement from PCS after many years of dedicated service. REMINDER - FREE PHYSICALS TONIGHT (6/5)! Attention Middle and High School athletes and marching band students! Plainwell and Otsego High Schools are joining forces to offer FREE physicals for the 2024/25 school year to PMS/PHS athletes and marching band students on Wednesday, June 5 at Otsego High School. Doors open at 5:00 PM - physicals begin at 5:30 PM. You must be in line by 7:00 PM in order to receive a physical.
Forms are available online and in the athletic office (please bring your completed and signed form with you).

Registration is open for our upcoming Cheer Camps. Two opportunities are available hosted by the PHS Cheer Program:
- 1st-5th Grade Summer Youth Camp on August 6 and 8
- 1st-8th Grade Cheer Camp and Game Day on September 12 and 13

Recently Quentin, a 1st grade student at Starr Elementary, was lucky enough to spend a day with Officer Farris as a Silent Auction prize he won at the Starr Carnival. During their morning together, they visited schools, took a tour of the police and fire station and enjoyed breakfast. It was a fun day for Quintin. Special thanks to Officer Farris!


PCS NEWS: NEW ONLINE REGISTRATION FOR ATHLETIC & MARCHING BAND PROGRAMS! For the upcoming 2024/25 school year, all 6th-12th grade student-athletes and PHS Marching Band students must register online to join athletics/marching band activities at PCS. The district has updated its online registration system from Big Teams and moving forward, all registrations will be handled through FinalForms. Students from the Young Fives classes at Gilkey and Starr went on a field trip to Ransom District Library. During the trip, they discovered the summer reading program, toured the library, strolled to Sherwood Park and concluded the day with ice cream from Dean's. A big thank you to Officer Farris for guiding the class as their crossing guard throughout the outing.

Starr Elementary recently hosted their annual Starr Strut, which took place last Friday at Streidl Field. The theme for this year was the Summer Olympics, allowing students to take part in various activities while walking around the track. Thanks to the students' dedication and the kind contributions from many, the event raised $22,779.56! A big thank you to everyone who donated and helped make this fundraiser a fantastic success! Well done, Rock Starrs!
