Charles, a second grader from Starr, was the lucky winner of the Spend a Day with Officer Farris from Starr Elementary's Fall Fest raffle in October. His grandmother placed the bid on his behalf, as he aspires to become a police officer when he grows up.
During their morning together, Charles and Officer Farris made their rounds and enjoyed a fantastic private tour of Plainwell Public Safety, which included a surprise meeting with an Allegan County Sheriff Police Dog. They even shared a special lunch at McDonald's before wrapping up their day. Special thanks to Officer Farris and Plainwell Public Safety for making this a memorable experience for Charles!

Registration is open for our upcoming Winter Tae Kwon Do program. Join us to improve coordination, gain strength and increase your flexibility while learning self-defense techniques, taught by Mr. Mitch. Tae Kwon Do is open to participants 7 and up. Program will run from December 2-February 17 from 5:30-7:00 PM. Practices will be held at the Middle School Cafeteria (except 12/2 will be held at Starr). Tickets are still available for our upcoming Family Hockey Night at Wings Event Center. We are excited to host this first ever event on Saturday, November 30 at 7:00 PM. Join us as the Kalamazoo Wings take on the Toledo Walleye at their Lavender Ice Game. Families will enjoy the game, a $5 concession voucher, free knit hat and a voucher for a free game of bowling at Airway Fun Center. Tickets are available for $17/adults, $14/kids (12 and under). PLEASE NOTE: Children's tickets ($14) will show up once you are on the screen to select your seat. Transportation is not available and parking is $5 per car at the event.

The registration deadline for Hoopsters Basketball has been extended until 11/17 at midnight. Hoopsters Basketball is the official developmental league for the Plainwell Trojans Girls and Boys Basketball Program for 3rd-5th graders. Hoopsters is a 3 on 3 format, which is organized as a way to develop the skills necessary for youth basketball players to compete at the next level while keeping fun at the center of every player’s experience. Program will run from December 9-March 1 (practice and game days, times & locations TBD). Cost is $60 per athlete. We are excited to share that registration is open for our upcoming PCS Cheer Holiday Mini Camp. Grades K-8 are welcome to join the PHS competitive cheer teams for a fun holiday mini camp filled with cheer stunts, mini routines, games and crafts! Camp will be held on Saturday, December 7 from 12:00-3:00 PM in the PHS Gym or AP Room. Cost is $35 per athlete. Mrs. Amaezechi's 4th grade class at Starr Elementary recently participated in Write Out: Poetry for the Planet. They took a field trip to Ransom District Library and learned how to write haikus using sensory language. They collected leaves along the way and turned them into a beautiful art project. Mrs. Amaezechi would like to thank the parent volunteers, Joe Gross and the staff of Ransom Library for helping make this adventure possible for the Rock Starrs!

Buildings throughout the district have partnered with NexTrex to recycle 1,000 lbs of plastic. Please bring plastic that is clean, dry and free of food residue to bins at the front vestibule of the High School, Middle School, Cooper, Gilkey & Starr to help support the recycling challenge. For each 1,000 lbs. that are collected, buildings will earn a new NexTrex bench! GO TROJANS!
On Saturday, the 4th and 5th grade exhibition cheer team held their first competition at Plainwell and took 📣 FIRST PLACE 📣. A total of 18 teams participated at PHS, creating an incredible atmosphere filled with Plainwell Pride! Thank you to the parents and fans who came out to support the Trojan cheerleaders! 💙
