CROSS COUNTRY: Congratulations to Mackenzie Hill for finishing in 19th place at the MHSAA Division 2 State Cross Country Meet to earn All-State honors for the second time in her career. Mackenzie earned All-State as a freshman, then after suffering injuries that hampered her season for two years, worked hard to regain her form and earn that status once again! Way to go Mackenzie - Trojan pride!

ROCK STARR FIELD TRIP: Our Starr Elementary kindergarten classes had a fun adventure at Stokes Homestead Farm Market. They enjoyed time playing on the playground, going on a hayride to pick out pumpkins, explored the farm & nature trails and took a ride on the cow train - all while learning and having fun with their classmates. What a great day it was at Stokes Farm for the kindergarten Rock Starrs!
VIRTUAL & HYBRID PUBLIC SAFETY TRIP: Last week, the students from our Virtual & Hybrid program had a special field trip to Plainwell's Department of Public Safety. During their visit, they had a tour of the facility/firetrucks and learned the importance of fire safety from local firefighters. It was a great day and an awesome learning opportunity for our Virtual & Hybrid students. A very special THANK YOU to the Department of Public Safety for your presentation to our students. MIDDLE SCHOOL HONORS BAND: Congratulations to the amazing Middle School 8th grade band students that represented Plainwell at the District Honors Band held at Plainwell’s Performing Arts Center. It was a great day with beautiful music from the honors band students. 🎼
PHS MARCHING BAND: Congratulations to the Trojan Marching Band for their 2nd place finish at the West Shore Invitational on Saturday! Their finish has given the Trojan Band the 4th best overall average score in the state in their division. Next up, they have been invited to compete in the State Finals on Saturday against the top 11 bands in their division from throughout the entire state of Michigan! The Trojan Marching Band will perform for the first time ever at Ford Field in Detroit at 9:18 am on Saturday, November 6. Gates open at 7am. Tickets are $25 at the gate, cash only. GILKEY WALK-A-THON: The Gilkey Geckos held a successful Walk-a-Thon fundraiser where they raised $17,481.42. It was a fun week for the elementary, which ended with a Rock-the-Block parade throughout Plainwell led by the Plainwell Department of Public Safety, the PHS Marching Band and Principal Bilodeau dressed up as a dinosaur. What a great day for the Geckos! Thank you to all that supported this fundraiser for Gilkey Elementary!

MONSTER MASH: Last week, Cooper Elementary held their Monster Mash event. It was an awesome outdoor evening for a costume party as our families went on a scavenger hunt for candy along the nature trail, played games, enjoyed sweets & treats and had lots of Halloween fun! Thank you to all that organized, planned and joined in for the fun at the 2021 Monster Mash!
GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY: The Girls Cross Country team competed at Regionals and finished 4th, only 11 points short of a third place team qualification for States! Mackenzie Hill was 2nd and Grace Pettit was 7th and both qualified for States! Way to go, Trojans - Plainwell Pride!
2021 FALL CHORAL CONCERT: The Middle School and High School Choir programs put on an amazing Fall Choral Concert featuring music from the "Wonderful World of Disney". It was a magical night filled with outstanding music and performances. Thank you to the choir directors and students for putting on an amazing concert for our families and community - Trojan Pride!
MIDDLE SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHY: The students in Mr. Herbert’s Michigan Exploration and Tinkering classes have been learning about outdoor photography. It’s amazing to see the student’s creativity and eye for detail in these images taken throughout the Middle School property. Beautiful work, Trojans!

PHS MARCHING BAND: Congratulations to the Trojan Marching Band for their 2nd place finish at the Jenison Invitational on Saturday! The Trojans were only 4 tenths of a point out of first place behind a very good Edwardsburg marching band. Both Plainwell and Edwardsburg finished more than 3 points ahead of their other Flight IV competitors (a large margin in competitive marching band). They will go head to head again at the West Shore Invitational Semi-Final Competition at Sparta High School; the last competition before their first ever State Finals appearance at Ford Field in Detroit on Saturday, November 6th. Way to go PHS Marching Band, Plainwell Pride!
MIDDLE SCHOOL SOCCER: The Middle School Boys Soccer teams had a big night Wednesday playing under the lights on Streidl Field. The blue team had an outstanding 5-1 victory and the white team won 3-2 in a last minute goal! The future of Plainwell Soccer is looking bright! Way to go, Trojans!

PHS FALL CHORAL CONCERT: It’s an exciting day for our choir programs, as they make their final preparations before the PHS Fall Choral Concert! Join us this evening (October 21) at 7 PM for the Plainwell High School Fall Choral Concert at the Performing Arts Center. The show will feature music from "The Wonderful World of Disney", as well as a special performance from the 7th and 8th grade choir programs.
LITTLE FREE ROBOT LIBRARY: Have you seen the Little Robots that are stationed outside of each of the elementary buildings? These Robots are home to the Little Free Libraries (LFL) which are stocked full of FREE books that are available to our early childhood/elementary (baby-5th grade) students and community members. Families are welcome to take a book without a donation or "take a book and leave a book", either way we encourage you to pick-up a FREE book for your child! The LFL Robots were purchased from the United Way to help promote literacy in our community, so please stop by one of our elementary buildings (Cooper, Gilkey or Starr) to pick-up a FREE book today!
