GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY: Congratulations to the Girls Cross Country team who finished in 2nd place at the Wolverine Conference meet tonight! This finish, combined with their regular season finish, allowed the team to finish in a tie for 2nd overall in the Conference. Mackenzie Hill (Senior, left) was crowned Conference Champion and Grace Pettit (Junior, right) was runner-up. Also earning All-Conference honors with her 20th place finish was freshman Hannah Erlandson. Way to go Trojan Cross Country, Plainwell pride!

GECKO TIE DYE FUN: Last Friday, the 5th grade students at Gilkey Elementary worked on a fun project while making tie dye tshirts! The students will be wearing their creations at the upcoming “Rock the Block” fundraiser at Gilkey on October 22. Thank you to the Gilkey Parents Club and all the volunteers who made this project possible for these students.

LEARNING ABOUT MEASURING AT STARR: Students in Mrs. Miller’s second grade class at Starr Elementary spent some time out of the classroom today learning about measurements. The students enjoyed the lesson while taking measurements in and out of the building. Keep up the great work, Rock Starrs!
HOMECOMING WEEK: To kick-off Homecoming week, Plainwell High School held an ASA High School No Hate Tour assembly sponsored by the Marines. The No Hate Tour is a group of professional BMX riders who are X Game medalists that encourage lessons in bully prevention. The event was held in the gym at Plainwell High School and featured high-flying BMX jumps and various stunts, including one featuring our very own educator Mrs. Kostanko, all while sharing stories and ways to stop bullying. It was a great way to kick-off this exciting week at PHS - a special thank you to the Marines and the professional BMX riders for an awesome experience for our students! SWIM & DIVE: Congratulations to the Girls Swim & Dive team who beat Marshall last night 101-89. Special recognition to Riley Nugent who set a new pool record in the 200 free. Congratulations to the diver relay of Taylor Seibert, Jadyn erdody, Sarah Russell and Addison Williams for winning their heat. Great swims by Brooklyn Herbert, Lauren Averill, Sophia Barth, Livy Perrin, Heidi Ragainis and the rest of the team. Best of luck to the girls as they travel to St. Joe on Thursday. Trojan Pride!
SPIRIT WEEK FUN: It’s Homecoming week and the elementary buildings are having lots of fun with different spirit days. Mrs. Funk's kindergarten class at Gilkey Elementary was a little sleepy during story time yesterday while wearing their cozy pajamas for pajama day. It’s great to see our students having fun while showing their school spirit! Way to go, Geckos!
TROJAN CONGRATULATIONS: Plainwell High School is proud to recognize Joel Butler and Ted Sherer for their Letter of Commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Program. PHS MARCHING BAND: We would like to wish a huge congratulations to the Trojan Marching Band for earning 1st place in MCBA's Flight IV competition in Belding today! The band also earned caption awards for Best Visual Effect and Best General Effect.
The band improved their score by six points from two weeks ago at Rockford scoring higher than Sparta, Fruitport, and overcoming a very good Godwin Heights band by more than 3 points!
The band's next competition will be in Jenison on Saturday, October 23.

STARR SAFETY: At Starr Elementary, their safeties are an integral part of their bus and cone duties. These students work hard to get their fellow students to their pick-up locations safely each day. This afternoon at pick-up, Peyton a 5th grade safety led the students in a game of Simon Says as they awaited their turn to leave the building. Thank you to Peyton and the other safeties for leading the Starr students each day! Way to go Rock Starrs!

BOYS SOCCER WOLVERINE CHAMPS: Congratulations to the Boys Soccer Team on their 2-0 win over Otsego for the 2021 Wolverine Conference Championship for the 7th consecutive year! Way to go, Trojan Pride! ⚽️
TROJAN SWIM & DIVE: Very proud of our ladies Swim and Dive team who fought hard, but came up short in the pool last night against Allegan (94-92). Congratulations to the 400 free relay team (Isabelle Delaet, Sophie Cox, Sydney Harper and Riley Nugent) for qualifying for state. Riley Nugent had a PR in the 200. Sydney Harper had the race of the night coming from behind in the 500 free and winning the event! Great diving by Taylor Seibert who won the event. Other great swims by Kallie Arlington, Eliza Harris, Madison Seibert, Ella Way and Olivia Perrin. The team worked incredibly hard, had some close finishes and showed their Trojan spirit by supporting one another throughout the event! Way to go, Trojan Pride!
8TH GRADE BAND FIELD TRIP: It was a great day of fun and team building as Mr. Hepinstall and Mr. Hunt took the 8th grade band students on a field trip, where they explored and completed several ropes course activities. What an awesome adventure it was for these middle school students!
CHOIR RETREAT: Last week, the PHS choir students had an awesome time during their Choir Retreat. During the day, they rehearsed with guest conductors Mrs. Gilbert and Owen Rushford, announced their 2021-2022 Choir Presidents (Easton Saubek and Shayla Bright), completed team-building activities, enjoyed a pizza party at B.C. Pizza, went to see Dear Evan Hansen at M-89 Cinema and had an ice cream social courtesy of Plainwell Ice Cream. They finished the day with an open gym until 11pm at PHS. It was a fun-filled day for these students! A very special thank you to all that participated in making this such a special day for the PHS choir - Plainwell pride!
