Ms. Cole's 4th graders at Starr Elementary took home the 🥇GOLD🥇 for a Prodigy Math Challenge last week. Students worked hard in class and at home to beat other 4th grade classrooms from all over the US, even with a snow day! Miren, Connor and Carter were the top three participants in class. Three Plainwell Robotics Club teams participated in tournaments at the Grandville Competition Center last weekend. Highlights from the weekend include: HIGH SCHOOL COMPETITION: Team "Nuclear Reactors" placed 19th of 67 teams after the qualifying rounds of the High School event, captained the 12th place alliance in the final rounds. They won their first match, but lost in the quarterfinals. "Nuclear Reactors" team members are Lauryn, Jack and Ayden. They are coached by Shannon Fritz. MIDDLE SCHOOL COMPETITION: Team "Steak" placed 7th of 24 teams after the qualifying rounds of the Middle School event. They captained the 5th place alliance in the final rounds. Team members are Caleb, Marcus, Tavi and Briana. They are coached by Summer Rosati and Matt Glass. Team "Rubber Ducky Squad" placed 9th after the qualifying rounds, captained the 9th place alliance, and were presented with the Judges Award. They lost in the quarterfinals. The Cooper Koalas kicked-off the week of holiday performances at the Plainwell Performing Arts Center. Last night, Cooper Elementary's Young 5, Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade classes performed at their "In My Snowman Era" Holiday Concert. The Girls and Boys Wrestling teams kicked-off their season this past weekend! Highlights from the competitions include: The Girls team traveled to Bangor and had a successful night on the mat. The team placed 3rd out of 21 schools.
