Recently, nine Plainwell High School students entered their woodworking projects into the Regional competition for MITES (Michigan Industrial and Technology Education Society). Congratulations to 6 of the 9 students whose projects finished in the top 4 of their category! These students will go on to participate in the State Finals this week at Wings Stadium.
Here are the results from the Regional Competition:

Our Kindergarten and Young 5 Round-up events begin TONIGHT! Join us for one of these special events to welcome the 2023-24 Kindergarten and Young 5 students to Plainwell Community Schools. Students/families can: Meet the staff, sign-up for readiness testing, receive vision & hearing screenings (limited availability) and enjoy bus rides, crafts, story time and more! Three Round-up options available:
- Tuesday, May 9 at Gilkey Elementary from 4:30-6:00 PM
- Wednesday, May 10 at Starr Elementary from 4:30-6:00 PM
- Thursday, May 11 at Cooper Elementary from 4:30-6:00 PM

On Friday, Plainwell Corners Preschool held a special Grandparents Day event. It was a beautiful and fun day filled with special activities, a letter scavenger hunt, snacks, playground fun and lots of bubbles. It was a great day, filled with lots of smiles, for all that were able to attend!
Join us TONIGHT (May 9) as PHS Choir presents "Collage 2023: A Senior Celebration!" The celebration featuring all PHS Choirs, Honors' Choir and Senior Soloists will begin at 7pm in the Plainwell Performing Arts Center. Free of charge and open to the public.
The Plainwell Middle School 6th, 7th and 8th grade Choirs, along with the Honors Choir performed at the State Choir Festival. It was a wonderful day filled with amazing music performed by these talented Trojans! Plainwell Pride!
Throughout the district, we are celebrating our AMAZING staff! At Plainwell Middle School, they celebrated last week in many special ways. Their Parent Group had a massage therapist come in and the PMS staff could sign up for 15 minute massages. They also stocked a snack station and provided desserts. Staff were also treated to a special breakfast and a taco bar lunch provided by the Principal Stamos and Assistant Principal Manting.

Our Middle School Track team had a great competition against Edwardsburg last week. While they came up a little short, there were several athletes that broke middle school records. Special congratulations to:
- 70 Meter Dash - Alayna Ranney and Evi Coutu
- 200 Meter Dash - Alayna Ranney and Sylar Luckett
- 4x200 - Alayna Ranney, Erica Klein, Sylar Luckett and Evi Coutu
- 4x400 - Brady Lentz, Braeden Asbeury, Logan Swartz and Greyson Veltman

On Friday, the Starr Elementary Parent's Club sponsored the April Student of the Month Breakfast. Each month, Starr teachers select one student who they felt did an outstanding job throughout the month. In April, the students who were selected did an awesome job giving great effort. Way to go, Rock Starrs!

This evening, we held the Plainwell Middle School National Junior Honors Society Induction Ceremony at the Performing Arts Center. It was a wonderful ceremony, congratulations Trojans!
Students in Ms. Lawrence’s Physics class at Plainwell High School had a special assignment today - they created and tested gravity cars! It was a fun assignment for these Trojans!
Mrs. Gonyeau's first grade class at Starr Elementary had a special visitor today. Lindsay Tarpley, two time Olympic Gold Medalist in U.S. Soccer, stopped by to read to the class. She and her children shared stories about perseverance and the importance of never giving up! It was a very special visit!! A big THANK YOU to Ms. Tarpley for creating this wonderful memory for these Rock Starrs!
