TROJAN MARCHING BAND: Congratulations to the Trojan Marching Band on their fantastic performance at the Jenison Invitational! The TMB took 3rd place, but were within one point of 1st place! They also earned a Best Percussion Caption Award by a wide margin! The next show is the State Semifinal performance in Grandville on Saturday, October 29th! Way to go TMB - Plainwell Pride!
FALL CARNIVAL: It’s Carnival day! Join the Starr Parents Association at Starr Elementary today (October 22) from 12-4 PM for their Fall Carnival to enjoy vendors, food trucks, face painting, carnival games (tickets are $.50 each), a pumpkin patch, crafts and more!

RHS NEWS: On Thursday, RHS had their Fall Slugfest and the Renaissance Rebels took first place! Today, a group of their students raked leaves for senior citizens in our community. Way to go, RHS!

MATH NATION AWARD: Congratulations to Plainwell Middle School 8th grader Hayden Steele who recently received a special award from Math Nation! Math Nation is a program that is used at the Middle School that "is a dynamic online (and printed workbook) resource that helps students master middle and high school mathematics". Hayden used the online Algebra Wall feature that Math Nation offers to interact and ask questions earning her the Top 5 Karma Points Statewide in Algebra I from Math Nation. Yesterday, Ms. Dye from Math Nation stopped by the Middle School to give Hayden a special award and prize package! Keep up the great work - Plainwell Pride!
YOUNG FIVES FIELD TRIP: The Young Fives students from Gilkey and Starr (Mrs. Bunker, Mrs. Francomb & Mrs. Youngs classes) went on a Field Trip to Gull Meadow Farms yesterday. It was a great day of exploring and outdoor fall fun!
PLAY-AND-LEARN: Each month, our early education Family Coach, Ms. Kelli hosts a Play-and-Learn group at Ransom District Library. The Play-and-Learn program is for parents and children ages birth to five years. These monthly playgroups are designed for children to come explore their developmental domains: communication, gross motor, fine motor, social and language. This month, the theme was Let's Talk About Community. The students had a special song and story, followed by exploring different activities related to fire safety - they even had a visit from PCS School Resource Officer, Mr. Farris, who handed out badges to the kids.

HOOPSTERS BASKETBALL: Join us for our upcoming Hoopsters Basketball program for 3-5th graders. This program introduces kids to the basic fundamentals of basketball and the rules of the game. The program will be held from December 4-March 5, teams will practice 1-2 times per week and play games on Saturdays (games will be played in Plainwell, Otsego and Martin). Cost is $57 per participant.

COLLEGE APPLICATION WEEK: During College Application Week, PHS students have the opportunity to receive assistance with applying to colleges, creating an account to transfer transcripts and receive information about FAFSA. Students who participate have the opportunity to participate in a raffle all month long to win various prizes. It’s exciting to see Today’s Learners, Tomorrow’s Leaders preparing for their future! Go Trojans!
PHS CROSS COUNTRY: The Boys and Girls Cross Country teams battled the difficult weather conditions this evening to compete against the Wolverine Conference teams for this season’s Conference meet in Edwardsburg.
The Boys team finished in 3rd place in the meet, which allowed them to finish in 2nd place overall for the season. Led by All-Conference runners Thai Nguyen, Isaac Veen and Liam Troutner, the boys placed their top 5 in the top half of the race.
The Girls team, who finished 4th in the regular season, pulled out a strong 3rd place finish with a solid pack of runners led by four time All-Conference senior Grace Pettit, which pushed the lady Trojans up to a tie for 3rd place in the overall standings for the Conference this season.
Congratulations to both teams - Trojan Pride!

PHS CHOIR RETREAT: The PHS Choir students recently had their retreat, where they enjoyed several activities and a trip to Air Way Fun Center. It was a great afternoon/evening for the students, as they spent time team building and having FUN!
