Sign-up is coming soon for the 2023 Battle of Books program! Students are invited to join us for a fun extra-curricular reading activity where they work as a team to read and study these seven selected books before competing in a quiz bowl type battle in February 2023.
Interested in participating? Sign-ups will take place at students' elementary buildings, so please stay tuned for more information and sign-up details to be shared soon!
INCENTIVE DAY: At Plainwell Middle School, they have a PRIDE program which stands for positivity, respect, integrity, determination and everyone’s safety in mind. Recently, the students filled their PRIDE pass box and earned an incentive day where they enjoyed basketball, classroom games, movies, legos, trivia, etc. We are so proud of our Middle School students for working hard to earn this special afternoon and are thankful to the PBIS team for making possible!

OPERATING MILLAGE PROPOSAL: On November 8, 2022, Plainwell Community Schools’ voters will have the opportunity to vote on an Operating Millage "Headlee override" Proposal which would allow the district to continue to collect the full 18 mills voters approved at the May 2014 election. Please review these frequently asked questions to get an understanding of how this Proposal will affect you. ROCK STARR'S OF THE MONTH: This morning, the Starr Elementary Parent's Club sponsored the September Student of the Month Breakfast. Each month, Starr teachers will select one student who they felt did an outstanding job throughout the month. In September, the students who were selected did an awesome job learning their Social Contract. Way to go, Rock Starrs!
TINKERING CLASS: Students in Mr. Herbert’s 7th grade Tinkering class at Plainwell Middle School have been making tables and cell phone charging stations. What a great class and fun project for these students!
MIDDLE SCHOOL SCIENCE: Students in Mrs. Ramsey’s and Ms. Termeer’s 6th grade science classes at Plainwell Middle School have been learning to use microscopes. It’s great to see these scientists excited to learn! 🔬
COOPER CROCHET CLUB: Yesterday was the first day of crochet club at Cooper Elementary. A 4th grade student created this club for students wanting to learn to crochet during recess. Great creativity, Koalas!
PCS FOOD SERVICE MENUS: We are aware of an issue with the Nutrislice website. Unfortunately the system is currently down and not syncing food service menus. We apologize for the inconvenience - we are currently working diligently to get the system back up and running. Thank you in advance for your understanding!
APPLES, APPLES, APPLES: The students in Ms. Francomb’s Young Fives classroom at Starr Elementary have been learning all about apples. Last week, they made applesauce. Not only was it a fun lesson in cooking, it also helped the students work on skills in math, science, language, social emotional development and physical development (fine motor skills)! What a fun and delicious lesson!
KAYAKING TRIP: On Friday, the Plainwell Middle School Michigan Exploration Class went on a kayaking trip. What a great way to explore our great state - it was a beautiful day and a great experience for these students!

2022 HOMECOMING FOOTBALL GAME: What an awesome night at the 2022 PHS Homecoming Football Game! Highlights include: an outstanding performance of the national anthem by the PHS choir, a hard played game by the PHS varsity football team that went into overtime, an exceptional halftime show by the marching band, an awesome cheerleading squad to cheer on the Trojans, a stadium full of school spirit, the announcement of the 2022 Homecoming Court and the crowning of the 2022 Homecoming King and Queen. A special congratulations to Isabelle DeLaet and Dane Jorgensen on becoming the 2022 Homecoming King and Queen!
The Trojans came up a little short in overtime with a 28-21 loss to Niles, but it was still a great night with lots of Trojan pride! Way to go, Trojans!

STARR SCIENCE: Today students in Mrs. Amaezechi’s 4th grade class at Starr Elementary learned how an eyeball works by making a cornea lens. What an awesome lesson - science is so cool!
