
PHS FORENSICS: The PHS Forensics team is having a great competitive season! Some highlights from the season include:
- The team had a competition on March 5 where they took home the third place trophy for Division II and one of their competitors (Abigail) broke into the final round of her event and ended up taking seventh place overall.
- One of their team members (Alysen) finished fourth place overall at the Portage Northern Menchinger Invitational on March 12. In addition, the team overall took home the 3rd place trophy in the Division II standings.
- This past weekend they competed and had a strong showing, with three of their competitors breaking into their semi-final round, but did not place overall as a team.
Congratulations to the Forensics team - keep up the great work, Trojans!


"IMPOSSIBLE THINGS ARE HAPPENING EVERY DAY" - IT'S MUSICAL WEEK! The cast and crew have been working hard to put the final touches on the 2022 PHS Spring Musical “Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella", which begins this week! Join us for this outstanding show from Plainwell High School. There are three showtimes available at the Performing Arts Center:
- Friday, March 25 at 7 PM
- Saturday, March 26 at 7 PM
- Sunday, March 27 at 2 PM
PURCHASE YOUR TICKETS TODAY! Tickets are available online by visiting plainwellschools.ludus.com ($12 balcony / $15 lower level). If you would prefer to purchase tickets in person, the Box Office at the Performing Arts Center will be open from 5-8 PM on Thursday, March 24 for ticket sales. Please note that limited tickets will be available at the door on show days, but we strongly encourage purchasing your tickets ahead of time to avoid the line.

READING MONTH: One of the many ways that Mrs. Stamos and Mr. Manting celebrate during Reading Month is to read to the 5th grade students throughout PCS.  Last week they read “I Am One, A Book of Action” to the 5th graders at Starr and Gilkey Elementary Schools. As Principal and Assistant Principal at the Middle School, they enjoyed this time sharing information and answering questions. Next up, they will stop at Cooper Elementary to meet with the 5th grade Koalas!


NHS & RED CROSS CLUB: Several members from Plainwell High School’s National Honor Society and Red Cross Club participated in the Kalamazoo Walk to End Homelessness on Saturday (3.19) at Homer Stryker Field. Way to go, Trojans!


GILKEY GECKO FIELD TRIP: The fourth graders from Gilkey Elementary took a field trip to Lansing last week to visit the Capitol and Historical Museum. They got to see Youth in Government (high school students from across the state) in action in the Senate and House! Some of them even got to walk on the Senate floor and meet Senator Tom Barrett! Such a meaningful learning event for everyone!


PHS SPRING SPORTS: 2022 Spring Sports are underway! Our athletes and coaches are enjoying and appreciating the warm, dry weather!  We are looking forward to a great spring season for our athletes - GO TROJANS!

ROCK STARR FIELD TRIP: Our fifth grade Rock Starrs from Starr Elementary had an awesome field trip yesterday! They enjoyed visiting the Kalamazoo Civic Theater to watch School House Rock, Jr., then took a walk to the Institute of Art and finished the day with a trip to Revel and Roll for bowling. What a fun day for these 5th grade students!


SIXTH GRADE CHOIR: Congratulations to our 6th grade Choir for their outstanding performance at their Choir Festival in Holland today! They earned a one rating and a perfect score in sight reading. Wonderful job to these students and their amazing directors! Plainwell Pride!


SYMPHONY FIELD TRIP: More from the Kalamazoo Symphony field trip…Students from Gilkey and Cooper Elementary Schools also enjoyed the trip to the Symphony on Tuesday. It was a great experience for the Geckos, Koalas and Rock Starrs! 🎵


PI DAY: “Did somebody say PIE? No, we said PI.” The 5th grade students at Gilkey Elementary celebrated Pi Day on Monday (3-14) with lots of delicious Pie! What fun for the 5th grade Geckos!


SYMPHONY FIELD TRIP: The Starr Elementary third and fourth grade students had a wonderful field trip to the Kalamazoo Symphony yesterday. They watched a performance and enjoyed learning about the Symphony. What a great experience for these students! 🎶


CHOIR FESTIVAL: Congratulations to the Middle School 7th, 8th and Honors Choirs for their outstanding performance at their Choir Festival on Monday in Hastings. All three choirs received perfect sight reading scores and first division ratings! Way to go - Plainwell Pride!


WGVU COOL TEACHER AWARD: The students in Ms. Funk’s Kindergarten class at Gilkey Elementary had a special visitor today. WGVU visited Gilkey to celebrate Ms. Funk as a Cool Teacher! She was nominated by one of her students for her engaging lessons and loving dedication to her students. What a great honor and exciting day for these Geckos. We are so grateful for all of the amazing educators at PCS - Plainwell pride!





PHS SWIM & DIVE: Congratulations to the Boys Swim and Dive State Team - Ivan Emde finished 5th in the 100 fly earning him All State Honors. He also finished 13 in the 100 back. Jake Westdorp finished 14 in diving. The 200 and 400 free relay of Ivan Emde, Lucas Boven, Tyler Keator and Andrew Miller finished 20 and 18. Way to go, Trojan Swim!

CHOIR RETREAT: The PHS Choir students had a great time bowling during their Winter Retreat on Friday. They had an afternoon together filled with bowling, pizza, laughs and fun!





PHS SWIM & DIVE: Congratulations to PHS Diver, Jacob Westdorp, who placed 14th in the State in 1 meter diving today! Way to go, Jacob - Trojan pride!




PHS CHEER: Congratulations to PHS Competitive Cheer Coach, Kylie Cook, who was voted All-District Coach of the Year by fellow coaches from our district competition. Congratulations on a great season and receiving this recognition, Coach Cook! Trojan pride!



PHS SWIM & DIVE: Good luck to the Boys Swim & Dive State team of Ivan Emde, Nicholas Deblecourt, Lucas Boven, Andrew Miller, Tyler Keator and Jacob Westdorp as they travel to Calvin University tomorrow (Friday, March 11) for the D3 Swim & Dive State Championship meet! Trojan Pride!
