
Due to snow and winter weather conditions, Plainwell Community Schools is closed today (Friday, March 10). The SAFE program and Early Childhood Education Center will open at 7:30 AM.

Join us on Friday, March 10 for Plainwell’s 2023 Art Hop to stroll through shops in downtown Plainwell and enjoy various artist creations. Over 80 pieces of Plainwell High School student art will be featured at Design Street and Elementary art will be on display at Ransom District Library, so please join us in supporting our Trojan artists on Friday from 5-8 PM.


While our Swim & Dive team prepares for their State Championship Meet, we wanted to share a few bond construction update pictures from the Trojan Pool & Gymnasium. We can officially see the bottom of the pool…now we can envision future events for our Trojan athletes and community! We look forward to continuing to share updates as the construction progresses.

Reading is magic! March is reading month and to kick-off the month, all three elementary buildings (Cooper, Gilkey and Starr) had a special magic show. Magician Alan Kazam visited each building, which provided a magical time for our elementary students.

Earlier this week, Ellen Sponsler (MS Special Education Teacher) and Tracy Keesee (Elementary Special Education Teacher) presented at the CEC (Council for Exceptional Children) conference in Grand Rapids. The title of the session was "Working Smarter Not Harder: Leveraging 5 Evidence Based Practices for Specialized Health Instruction." The students at Cooper Elementary had a special visitor today, as the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra String Quartet performed for the school. It was an amazing experience for the Koalas!


Due to winter weather, there is no open family swim tonight (Friday, March 3).

FINAL DAY TO REGISTER! Girls grades 1-8th grade are invited to join us for the 2023 Girls Basketball Skills Camp from March 11-25. The camp, which is hosted by Coach Stephenson, Staff & PHS players, will be held on Saturday mornings with the following schedule:
- 1st-3rd Grade: 9:00-10:15 AM at PHS
- 4th-6th Grade: 10:30-11:45 AM at PHS
- 7th-8th Grade: 12:00-1:30 PM at PHS
The cost is $30 per athlete with a family rate of $15 for each additional child.

Join us for a Bond Renovation Open House at Plainwell Middle School on Monday, March 6 from 5:30-6:30 PM. All are welcome to attend this special event to see all the bond renovation updates at the Middle School. The Board of Education meeting will follow in the new Middle School Media Center. PCS is excited to welcome Brian Huberty as the new Head Football Coach at Plainwell High School! “My family and l are beyond excited to be coaching back in Plainwell. This is the community I was raised in, teach in, and live in and have a passion to see it be successful”, words from Plainwell High School’s new Head Football Coach Brian Huberty. Brian has taught for 20 years in the Social Studies department and is currently the Instructional Coach for our teaching staff at Plainwell High School. Coach Huberty brings numerous years of coaching experience from Plainwell, Wayland and Parchment. He has been a head coach at all different levels in football, along with assistant and head coach at the varsity level. Coach Huberty also played baseball in college and brings head coaching experience from baseball and softball. During the interview process, he stood out as a leader that believes in building trust and relationships with his players. Through those relationships they work together with the coaching staff and community to build a strong, hard working, positive culture.
Coach Huberty is extremely detail oriented and focused on providing the best experience for our athletes. He has a vision for Plainwell Football that he is excited to share with our football program, along with parents and community members. Coach Huberty will be meeting with our athletes very soon. We’ll also have a Meet and Greet in the spring.

Congratulations to the 2023 Battle of the Books 📚 Champions - Moonlight Makers - from Cooper Elementary. It was a great day of competition and we are so proud of all of the participants for their hard work and outstanding teamwork! Congratulations to the winning team - way to go, Koalas!


As we continue to monitor the weather and travel conditions, we wanted to provide an update on afternoon/evening activities at PCS. This evening (Thursday, February 23), we will only be holding Varsity level practices, all other activities and events are canceled. We understand many families do not have power or may have transportation concerns, so please do what you feel is best for your family to stay safe. Please contact your student's coach/director if you need more information.
The Freshmen and JV Boys Basketball game that was planned for this evening in Niles has been canceled due to power outages and trees blocking driveways.
