We are happy to announce that Mr. Marvin Taylor has been selected as our new principal for Plainwell High School. Mr. Taylor comes to us with a wide variety of experiences, including many years as an administrator and educator, and he is excited to join our team. Mr. Taylor brings a positive attitude, strong communication and administrative skills, is relationship focused, and is eager to learn about Plainwell High School students and families. High School families can expect a direct communication from Mr. Taylor regarding opportunities to meet and interact with him soon. Congratulations Mr. Taylor, welcome to Plainwell.

This summer, the PCS Operations Department hired six talented PHS students to help provide support for their projects. These students have been responsible for landscaping, mowing and general labor tasks. Their dedication and hard work are already proving to be invaluable, contributing to the efficiency of completing summer projects for the Operations Department. Check out these pictures to see them in action!
REMINDER! Come out for an evening of family fun and show your support for the Savage family today (Friday, July 26) from 4-6 PM at Gilkey Elementary. Pack a picnic and a towel for a fire truck cool-down. Families can explore the nature trail, playgrounds, Bookin’ Bus, play kickball and much more! Lemonade, bake sale treats and make-and-take crafts available for purchase – all proceeds will go towards helping the Savage family!

As we go through our spring sports recap, let’s shine the spotlight on the Tennis team! The 2024 season served as a foundational period, offering numerous growth opportunities as the team tackled obstacles, secured victories, and built confidence for the future. Here are some highlights from the season:
- The singles lineup consisted of 9th and 10th graders.
- A doubles flight was held down by two first-year varsity players, including a freshman.
- Despite being a youthful team, they showed progress throughout the season with individual and team triumphs.

Plainwell High School’s Alps and Mediterranean Tour is complete. A total of 42 Plainwell teachers, students and families embarked on a journey through Switzerland, Italy, Monaco, France and Spain. They enjoyed fondue in the Alps, explored Cinque Terre in Italy by train, stopped for a lunch break in Monaco, toured Pont du Gard and Nimes in Provence, followed by biking, enjoying tapas and witnessing a flamenco show in Barcelona. This experience was truly remarkable for the Trojans!

Plainwell Community Schools is mourning the tragic loss of Mason Savage, a PHS student, and his father, Dan Savage, after their family experienced a serious car accident. Three other family members, including two PCS students, are currently hospitalized. Our love, prayers, and support go out to the Savage family during this difficult time.
School and community professionals are working together at Plainwell Community Schools to provide counseling services for students and faculty affected by this loss. Counselors and social workers will be available in the Middle School ESC (library) from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM on Tuesday, July 9.
If you are interested in helping the family you can provide support by participating in multiple fundraising events put together by local families and district personnel.

More highlights from PHS Varsity Spring Sports! The PHS Softball team had a great season, as the program continues to learn and grow. The team showed great improvement in each game throughout the season, including their best performance against Vicksburg in the first round of districts where they concluded their season. Post season awards went to Olivia Perrin and Madison Seibert who earned honorable mention. Olivia, Madison and the PHS Softball team worked hard showing dedication and grit throughout the entire season - PLAINWELL PRIDE!
As we continue to highlight our spring sports, we would like to take a moment to recognize the PHS Girls Soccer team who had an outstanding season! The team won the Wolverine Conference after an exceptional season! They went on to compete strongly in Districts, making it to the Semi-Finals. In addition, PHS Varsity Soccer Coach, Garry Snyder, received WC Girls Soccer Coach of the Year! Congratulations on a great soccer season, Trojans! ⚽️
Due to maintenance, Open Swim at the PCS Pool is canceled this evening Friday, June 28.
As we continue to highlight our spring sports, we would like to recognize the PHS Golf team for their accomplishments! They ended the season at the Wolverine Conference Golf Tournament where they took third place. In addition, PHS sophomore Drew Rayman competed at the Regional Golf Tournament where he shot an impressive 75 securing a spot in the MHSAA State Finals. TROJAN PRIDE!
