🏀 Congratulations Trojans! 🏀 Alyssa Weldon led the Varsity Girls Basketball team with 22 points in their 48-47 win against Sturgis last night.
Next up, catch the team next Tuesday (12/10) at HOME against Three Rivers. This is their Holiday Giveback game, so please consider joining us as the basketball team will be collecting monetary donations that will go 100% towards the sponsorship of families in our community this holiday season. The PHS Boy’s Varsity Basketball team is off to a 2-0 start this season. Last night, they beat Sturgis 52-34…let’s go Trojans! 🏀


🏐 Next up for our fall sports highlights - PHS Volleyball! This team has transformed the culture and standard within Plainwell Volleyball. Before the season even started, the team was putting in the work on and off the court to make sure that they were prepared to compete at a high level. They had bumps along the way, but continued to show resilience and unity through the tough moments. The team dominated in the Wolverine Conference and beat Otsego to earn a district title. Although their season came to an end in a tough match against #1 ranked Grand Rapids Christian, this team has changed Plainwell Volleyball for the better and we know that this is just the beginning for the program!

We are excited to share that registration is open for our upcoming Winter Trojan Aquatic Club program. TAC is a competitive swim team for PCS youth ages 6-18. Program will run from December 16-February 15. Cost is $100 per athlete. Although our winter programs are underway, we wanted to take some time to recognize our high school fall sports and their achievements. First up, let’s share some highlights from the PHS Football program.
As a team, the PHS Varsity Football team has been honored with the title of ACADEMIC ALL-STATE! Furthermore, they are in the running as one of the TOP FOUR academic teams in the state. What an impressive accomplishment, Trojans!
Throughout their time at PHS, the Senior class has played a vital role in transforming the culture of the football program. They consistently arrived with a positive attitude and supported each other. While the immediate results may not fully reflect their efforts, the program will undoubtedly see the impact our senior class has made in the future. Our sub-varsity levels also showed remarkable progress, with huge improvements throughout the year. The Freshman team had a successful year and is eager to make their mark on Friday nights in the near future.
Individual highlights and awards from the season include:
- Carter Monette set a school record with 3 kickoff returns
- Abel Jorgensen earned All-Region recognition
Drew Rayman received 2nd team All-Conference honors
- Abel Jorgensen also earned Honorable Mention All-Conference
- Adin Young achieved Honorable Mention All-Conference
- Brayden Riley was awarded Honorable Mention All-Conference

The Plainwell Robotics Club held its 4th Annual High School Robotics Tournament on Sunday, November 24 at Plainwell High School. Twenty-three teams from across lower and western Michigan participated. Two of the Plainwell Club's teams were presented with awards to recognize their achievements at the event.
Team "Up Dawg" received the Innovate Award, which recognizes an effective and well documented design process for a novel aspect of the team's robot design or gameplay strategy. The team consists of Hiro, Aiden, Clay and Bryce. They are coached by Jim Mallory.
Team "Siege" received the Design Award, which recognizes a team's ability to document and explain their Engineering Design Process via an Engineering Notebook and Team Interview. The Design Award also qualifies Team "Siege" to participate in the Michigan State Robotics Championship in February. The team consists of Isiah, Owen and Walker. They are coached by Matt Clippinger and Jason Ferris.

PHS Principal Mr. Taylor arranged a family-style Thanksgiving dinner for both students and staff today. The cafeteria featured a screening of “Charlie Brown Thanksgiving”, while a "Charlie Brown Thanksgiving dinner" was served. It was a fun occasion for the Trojans to come together and celebrate before Thanksgiving Break!


The PHS Multicultural Club had an amazing time at the Asian American High School Conference at the University of Michigan. Students enjoyed diverse performances from campus groups, explored different Asian cultures in workshops and connected with other students from across Michigan. It was an inspiring day of learning, sharing and celebrating cultural diversity!


Our high school robotics season got off to a great start when team “Siege” secured their qualification for the Michigan High School State Championship to be held at Kettering University on February 21-22, 2025. The team participated in the West Michigan High Stakes Mega League held over the last several weeks at Grandville. Several dozen high school teams participated in the League, and the top 24 teams competed in the League Finals last week. Team Siege was seeded 6th for the Finals.
The team lost in the final match 33 to 23, but earned the Tournament Finalist Award which qualifies them for the State event. The team members are Walker, Isaiah and Owen. The team is coached by Matt Clippinger and Jason Ferris.
