Attention Middle and High School athletes and marching band students! Plainwell and Otsego High Schools are joining forces to offer FREE physicals for the 2024/25 school year to PMS/PHS athletes and marching band students on Wednesday, June 5 at Otsego High School. NEW THIS YEAR! Marching band students will need a physical for the 2024/25 school year. Doors open at 5:00 PM - physicals begin at 5:30 PM. You must be in line by 7:00 PM in order to receive a physical. Forms are available online and in the athletic office (please bring your completed and signed form with you).
Today was officially the last day of school for the senior class! We are incredibly proud of our Class of 2024! Thank you for your hard work and dedication to your education. To send off our Class of 2024, earlier today they had a parade through the Middle School and their Elementary buildings. It was fun for our staff and younger Trojans to cheer on our seniors and wish them well as they approach graduation - Trojan Pride!
Earlier this week, PCS hosted the Allegan County School Board Association annual awards dinner where Kristen Gonyeau, Lynne Seibert and Jeff Lindstrom were recognized as the 2024 Outstanding People for Education winners for our district. Congratulations to these three exceptional staff members for their endless dedication to PCS! It was a wonderful dinner, recognizing many amazing staff members throughout Allegan County, congratulations to all of the recipients that were recognized!
Jacob Erdody is being honored for creating the class of 2024 mural. Inspired by our hometown, the mural captures the downtown and the rural farming communities. The farm field is meant to pay tribute to Mr. Meert, a beloved teacher and friend. This special mural will be displayed in the halls of Plainwell High School for many years to come. This weekend, PHS sophomore, Avery Lynch, competed in the Freestyle Wrestling State Championship at Kellogg Arena, where she took first place in her weight class! Congratulations Avery on this outstanding achievement! PLAINWELL PRIDE!

The Henry Pestka Art & Poetry Contest held their annual dinner & awards on Monday, May 6 at Frederik Meijer Gardens. This year’s theme, Hope, explores how, despite facing unimaginable tragedies like the Holocaust, hope can be found in our common humanity. Nine districts in the area competed and in the Top 10 finalists for poetry, three were PCS students. At the ceremony, the following students were recognized:
- Audra Huberty was awarded 3rd in the 9th grade category for her poem, “The Journey of Hope”
- Julia Bitely received 2nd place in the 8th grade category for her poem, “ Midnight Moon”
- Josie Longcore placed first in the 10th grade category for her poem, “Red”
They each received prizes, a gift bag of goodies and a book written by the speaker at the event, author Liza Weimer. Congratulations on these outstanding achievements, Trojans - PLAINWELL PRIDE!

The Boys Basketball Camp wrapped up last weekend. During the four week camp, 1st-6th grade athletes learned the fundamentals of the game from PHS coaches and athletes. It was a great experience for the Trojans, with lots of learning and FUN! 🏀

It's election day! Remember to vote in the election today (Tuesday, May 7)! The no tax rate increase bond would focus on five key areas:
- Safety & Security Improvements at all buildings to improve district safety and lockdown standards
- New Early Childhood Center to be located on Jersey Street to service birth to 4 year old children
- New Full Size Gymnasium Additions to Cooper and Gilkey Elementaries
- New Tennis Courts at PHS to replace the current courts that are at the end of their life cycle
- Completion of Current Projects
