MDOT DESIGN & BUILD TRUSS BRIDGE CHALLENGE: Yesterday (April 19), twelve 7th Grade students from Plainwell Middle School competed in the Michigan Department of Transportation Design and Build Truss Bridge Challenge in Detroit. The teams were graded highly and heavily complimented on the professionalism of their group presentations. The students had a positive experience and many judges complimented each team for their creative and aesthetically pleasing bridge design. Way to go, Trojans - Plainwell Pride!
MIDDLE SCHOOL TRACK: The Middle School Track season is underway. Last week, they competed at the Comstock Invitational where they had 22 athletes place in the top three in their events! Overall, the girls team placed second and took home a trophy and the boys team placed third. This week, the whole team will compete against Otsego in their first conference dual. Keep up the great work, Trojans!
ALPIN HONG AT THE PAC: The Gilmore Piano Festival is presenting a Family Concert next Wednesday, April 20 at the Plainwell Performing Arts Center. Alpin Hong will be in concert “as he travels the multiverse of music through video games and films, as well as pop and classical music”. AIR ZOO: The Plainwell Middle School 7th grade students took a trip to the Air Zoo today. It was a great learning experience and a lot of fun for these students.
MENTOR OF THE YEAR: Recently, the Middle School Robotics team W.H.A.M. competed in Council Bluffs, Iowa at the CREATE U.S. Open Robotics Championship. At the event, the team had the opportunity to nominate a mentor for Mentor of the Year and they nominated Coach Joe Gentile. We are excited to share that the CREATE Foundation selected Coach Gentile as the recipient of their most prestigious award, which he received at the Robotics practice/celebration earlier this week. Congratulations Mr. Gentile - Plainwell Pride!
PHS CHOIRS COLLAGE 2022: Mark your calendar to join us as Plainwell High School Choir presents "Collage 2022: A Senior Celebration" on Tuesday, May 3 at 7 PM. Join us for this free concert at the Plainwell Performing Arts Center featuring music from the PHS Choirs.

SON DAY: Community Education is offering an evening of Sons and Magic for students K-6. Sons and their chaperones will be treated to a magic show with the very successful, funny and sly magician, Brian Penny. The themed photo booth, balloon artist, Scoop the Balloonatic and tricks and treats throughout the event are sure to create what sons will remember as their special day! MIDDLE SCHOOL SUPPORTS UKRAINIAN REFUGEES: Over the last few weeks, Plainwell Middle School held a grade level contest to support Ukrainian Refugees. The goal was for each grade level to get the most pennies in their grade level jar and take points away from the other grades by adding silver coins to other grade level jars! This week, Student Council and Current Events Class students counted the money that was raised. Thank you to the Middle School students who raised over $1,800, this money will be donated to the World Central Kitchen, who is providing meals to over 2.5 million Ukrainian refugees. Way to go, Trojans!
GIRLS BASKETBALL SKILLS CAMP: This past weekend, we wrapped up the Girls Basketball Skills Camp for 1st-8th grade girls. It was a great camp hosted by the PHS Coaching Staff and players. What a great opportunity for our young Trojans to learn all about the game of basketball.
CINDERELLA BEGINS TONIGHT: We are just a few hours away from opening night at the 2022 PHS Spring Musical “Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella". The cast and crew have done an outstanding job preparing for the show and we can’t wait to see them live on stage beginning this evening!

READING MONTH: One of the many ways that Mrs. Stamos and Mr. Manting celebrate during Reading Month is to read to the 5th grade students throughout PCS. Last week they read “I Am One, A Book of Action” to the 5th graders at Starr and Gilkey Elementary Schools. As Principal and Assistant Principal at the Middle School, they enjoyed this time sharing information and answering questions. Next up, they will stop at Cooper Elementary to meet with the 5th grade Koalas!

CHOIR FESTIVAL: Congratulations to the Middle School 7th, 8th and Honors Choirs for their outstanding performance at their Choir Festival on Monday in Hastings. All three choirs received perfect sight reading scores and first division ratings! Way to go - Plainwell Pride!
