It's School Board Recognition Month! To start the month, we would like to take a moment to recognize a special member of the Trojan Community! On December 31, 2022, after 15 years serving on the Board of Education, Mrs. Amy Blades stepped down as the BOE President. Amy has provided our students and district with great leadership and dedication throughout her time serving. We are endlessly grateful for her constant commitment to providing the very best for our students, staff and families. Mrs. Blades, THANK YOU for all your years of sharing your time, knowledge, expertise and caring heart with the staff and students at PCS. Recently, the Plainwell Middle School NJHS had a Penny War and the 6th graders raised the most money. Earlier this week, two students were selected from the winning class to pie Mrs. Noto Cassada and Mr. Rushford. It was a lot of fun, with many laughs by all!

It was an awesome night at the 2022 Shop with a Hero event at Meijer in Plainwell. On Monday, we gave out 130 - $150 gift cards to Meijer at our Shop with a Hero event. What a special time for the PCS students, as well as the 30 local heroes that helped them holiday shop. We are so grateful to our anonymous donor for providing this amazing opportunity for our students every year, it touches the lives of so many. We are also very thankful to local heroes and volunteers for making this such a special event for our Middle School Students. THANK YOU to everyone that made this night so incredibly special!

All evening activities have been canceled for today (Thursday, December 22, 2022). This includes TAC, Hoopsters, Volleyball Lifting and all other activities/practices. Stay safe and Go Trojans!

It’s official, Winter Break is here! As a reminder, our Winter Holiday Break is from Thursday, December 22-Friday, January 6. We wish our students and families a wonderful and happy holiday break. We look forward to welcoming our students back to school on Monday, January 9.

Another wall mural masterpiece by PHS 10th grader Sarah Lagenour has been completed at Plainwell Middle School. This mural is an original of her 2020/21 yearbook cover. Sarah’s art skills are absolutely incredible and we are so grateful that she shared her talents for all to enjoy for years to come at PMS. Next up, she will be painting another mural in the 6th grade hallway after break. Trojan Pride!

It was another amazing evening at the Plainwell Performing Arts Center as the 8th grade Band and Choir programs performed at their Variety Show. The students did a phenomenal job performing, not even the Grinch could ruin the fun and festive evening! Thank you to our students and Directors (Mrs. Perrin, Mr. Hepinstall, Mr. Rushford, Ms. Quillian and Ms. Beauchamp) for an outstanding evening at the PAC!

It was a fun morning at Gilkey, Cooper and Starr Elementary Schools as the Middle and High School Choirs performed for the students. The performance included a number of classic holiday songs, as well as a special appearance from "Olaf". It was a fun morning for all the students involved, the smiles were priceless!

Last night, the Plainwell Middle School 6th and 7th grade choir students performed at their Winter Concert. The students did an outstanding job performing at this festive concert. Thank you to our students and Choir Director (Ms. Quillian) for a wonderful evening at the Plainwell Performing Arts Center!

Our Sharp Shooters 5th-8th grade Basketball teams participated in their end of the season tournament this weekend! Congratulations to the coaches and players on a great season!
- 5th grade won the Silver Division and went 3-0 (Coaches Scott Wagenaar and Josh Gilkison)
- 6th grade won the Silver Division and went 3-0 (Coach Perry Truitt)
- 7th grade went 2-1 and made it the Gold Division Championship game of their division (Coaches Jason Trahan and Seth Weldon)
- 8th grade finished in 1st place by going 3-0 and won the Gold Division Championship and the 8th grade overall championship (coaches Hank Overway and Jim VanAtter)

Congratulations to Plainwell’s 5th grade Sharp Shooters Basketball team who won all three games last night in the Sharp Shooters tournament against Lakeview, Lawton B and Climax-Scotts. Way to go, Trojans!

The 2022 Plainwell High School Spectrum Concert is sold out! For those that did not purchase tickets, the concert will be available via live stream on the Plainwell Performing Arts Center Facebook page (on 12/20 at 7 PM). We look forward to this amazing holiday concert from the PHS Band and Choir programs!

Congratulations to Middle School Band students Aiden Glass, Kohler Smith and Lucas Williams. Aiden and Kohler were selected to participate in the State of Michigan Middle School All-State Band in January and Lucas earned an honorable mention. This is a huge achievement as they auditioned and competed with band students from all over the state of Michigan! We are so proud of these amazing students who are representing PCS so well - Plainwell Pride!

The Plainwell Middle School Eco Club hosted Russ Schipper from the Audubon Society of Kalamazoo today. During his time at PMS, he shared tons of information about Michigan birds and their relationship to our eco system. The students saw several of the birds, heard their sounds and even touched a few - it was a great learning experience for all!
